How Can i See God?

Driving the other day, I was having some well-needed Jesus time. Lately, I’ve been feeling under the pressure of perfection in different areas of my life. Because of that, I’ve been stressed, and I don’t know about you, but when I’m stressed I over think the situation and instead of just working through it I preoccupy myself with thinking and it just becomes an endless cycle. BUT God is amazing and never fails to meet me right where I am when I least expect it & guide me back to His perfect path. I’ve felt this on my heart to share for awhile, I just haven’t been able to form the words. While I was listening to Him while driving, He put some things together for me to encourage you…

There’s a common misconception of the way we try to seek God out in everyday life. Often times, we direct our eyes to Him only when we “feel” we are in the presence of Him- our emotions running high & the overwhelming “ability to surrender” is ever present. And when we do find ourselves in this situation, we must come to Him like we have it all figured out.

What He has been teaching me in this chapter of my life is that what I perceived to be the model of a real relationship with Him is a total lie. He wants us to come to Him in our confusion, in the midst of the chaos going on and rely on Him. We don’t have to crave or desire His presence to talk to Him. He knew exactly what was going to happen before it happened. He wants us to come to Him with honesty and openness & with that be completely dependent on Him.

Talking to Him is the way we are able to see Him. We can’t expect to see God if we don’t even know what He looks like. By talking to Him and getting into the Word, we learn what He looks  like, we learn His voice, and how to distinguish the lies that the enemy tries to get us to believe, we are able to develop a thriving relationship with Him.

So what now? In order to see God, talk to Him! Get before Him, read His Word, and ask Him to give you a discerning heart. But remember to be patient and willing to wait on what He has to say. He’s ready to listen to you!

“Trust in Him at all times, o people. Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.” – Psalm 62:8
